Cyrus the Great

Cyrus II of Persia (c. 600–530 BCE), founder of the Achaemenid Empire, conquered Babylon and freed the Jews. He issued the Cyrus Cylinder, an early human rights charter, and established a vast, multicultural empire known for its tolerance and efficient administration.
