Plato

Plato (c. 428–348 BCE), Greek philosopher, founded the Academy in Athens, the first Western institution of higher learning. A student of Socrates, he authored dialogues exploring justice, reality, and governance, most notably *The Republic*, profoundly shaping Western philosophy.
